January Walk-About, On the Ground and In the Air

One of the benefits of where I live is our fortunate proximity to the Memphremagog Trails, part of the Memphremagog Ski Touring Foundation. Just out my back door, I find myself within a few feet of a robust and fantastic trail system for skiing, snowshoeing, cycling, and walking. For me, it's the snowshoeing that I find so rejuvenating.

As often as possible during the winter, I grab my camera and my drone—strapped across my back in an Altura Photo bag—and head out into the snow and woods. Usually, I follow one of the mountain bike trails north, ascending to the top of Darling Hill, as a sort of warm-up to get my head into the moment. Then, I wend my way out, around, and nominally down back towards my house—sometimes on a trail, sometimes cutting through the woods, but always letting gravity and whim guide me home.

These are a few recent captures of a morning of winter wandering. Any and all of these are available for purchase as prints, files, and more on my SmugMug gallery HERE.

Enjoy!
