Bits and Bobs from Aruba
Aruba's such an odd duck. Clearly it's a commercialized vacation mecca for the beach-inclined who want to swim in fruity drinks, slather on tanning oils and eat mediocre buffet food, but like so many of these spots, there are little pockets of hold-out locality, scrapping to retain that original thing. The trick, of course, is to wander. Seek. Get loose. I know we didn't find everything here, but a few fun local "taxi" rides put us in all manner of odd ball spots. Enjoy, won't you? I know I did. Hopefully someday I'll have the time and funds to return with a little more adventurous nature to seek out the rest of what Aruba's hiding behind its McDonald's billboards and cruise ship jewelry shops.
